I've ask that they make a concise list of their needs and here is the results. What will they do: * Sixty work Shops, Some of the titles include: Sexual assault - young woman communities LGBTQ - Relationships in the nineties. seven generations and beyond - Queer people of color, taking care of our selves and each other Intro to Queer activism and Advocacy Queer Sex writing Spiritual Activism and Daily life * All queer films from FrameLine * Art Project including graffiti wall * Party on Saturday night * Sports tournament all weekend long * Chill room * HIV Pre counseling * International Youth Speakers * and a chat with Da Mayor 20 Identity work-groups focusing on common socio/cultural denominators such * African American * HIV-Positive * High School, and working Class caucus. Sports People tp lead/supervise games (volleyball, flag football, soccer, ping pong, basketball) Set-up, Clean-up Individuals to help set-up and clean-up the weekend of the Conference Meal Prep Individuals to staff breakfast buffets the mornings of the Conference, and to assemble bag lunches for both days Equipment Team Group of individuals who will coordinate all sound, audio visual, lighting, computer, and other equipment at the Conference Safety Monitors People to staff parking lots, dorms, Marina Middle School First Aid/Nurses Station (Possible) people to staff first aid station Gophers, runners Before the Conference: Driver Individual to volunteer self and car for pick-ups, and deliveries (week of Conference) Conference Materials Individuals to assemble program and other materials (week before Conference) Mailings Individuals to help with mailings Film Screening Individuals to arrange showing of cool queer (youth?) films during each workshop time session at the Conference, possibly including getting equipment, films and setting up viewing room. Also to arrange a light (fun) film for Saturday night party (something like Incredible True Adventure of Two Girls in Love). Frameline is providing some films for us. Conference Banner Individuals to design and create banner for Conference (also to be used at Pride Marches) Art Program Individuals to coordinate and staff art programs/projects for conference participants, possibly including graffiti wall Quiet Space/Lounge Space Individual(s) to create a chill area for people to hang out in throughout the conference Donations Individuals to contact businesses, agencies, stores, etc. and ask them to donate or lend to us materials we need for the Conference Party Individuals to help LYRIC's After School Program organize the party Saturday night, including acquiring donations of food and decorations, staffing, setting and cleaning up Outreach Individuals who can distribute Conference posters, flyers and handbills Marina District Promotions-Individuals to contact shops and restaurants in Marina district, tell that there will be 300 people converging on the neighborhood the weekend of the conference, and procure coupons and special offers for the conference participants. Individuals to call local and national queer press for free advertisements.
