Last month an appeal was filed in the Appeal Court by the three lesbian couples who earlier this year lost the case for their right to marry in the Auckland High Court. The actual date for the hearing has not yet been set but is likely to be early next year.
Out There, a gay and lesbian television show (formerly Express Report) received a second lot of funds from New Zealand on Air. The funding will enable 13 further episodes of the program to be produced.
Hero has won an award as the most unique event in the North Island in the fifth New Zealand Event Management and Marketing Conference.
Two new groups are been launched in Auckland this month.
The first new group to meet this month is the couples support group. This group is planned as a support group for gay couples where HIV is a feature of there relationship. It will meet every second Wednesday of the month at 7.00pm. It is hoped that this will be a time to meet other couples in a similar situation in a safe environment to increase support, dialogue and involvement.
The second new group is men alongside. This is a practical and social support group for men who are caregivers for a partner, friend or family member with HIV. This group will meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm.
For more information on either group contact the facilitators, Kevin Baker and Jonathon Smith, Phone: +64-9-849-2266 or the NZAF Burnett Centre +64-9-309-5560.
