Editorial - Happy New Year and all that!

As '95 comes to an end it is appropriate to do the usual thing and wish everyone all the best for '96. Thanks to everyone for comments, contributions and general support in the past year. Without it this news may have quickly disappeared into the will that was a good idea but... Remember if you are at an event in NZ in the following months send me a review. If you know of something that is happening in NZ let me know also. Finally if you are part of a NZ group and you still haven't got a home page at Akiko email me for how you can get a presence on the web on the Queer pages at Akiko.

Finally party hard tonight and take care out there.

Needle exchange scheme receives cash boost.

The Needle Exchange New Zealand group has been awarded a one year contract of $130,000 from North Health. This will enable the group to appoint a coordinator which will promote growth of the scheme.

Maree Jensen, a spokeswoman, was reported in the NZ Herald as saying their was a real demand for services in areas such as Northland. She went on to say that "the scheme is going to have someone to encourage new pharmacy outlets and coordinate it".

What is happening on the Internet

Well besides some heated discussion in nz.general, nz.politics and soc.culture.new-zealand things are quiet.

The HERO details are continuing to be put up at the URL: http://nz.com/NZ/Queer/HERO/ and should be completed by the end of next week.

Of interest is a new site Queer Vision Worldwide at the URL: http://www.queervision.com.au/ This site is in the initial development stages but is aiming to provide an alternative outlet for high quality gay and lesbian video-on-demand programming. An ex Kiwi now based in Sydney is involved with this project.
