General Principles

LAMBDA does not collect non-public personal information about individual users, except when such individuals specifically provide such information on a voluntary basis.  Such personally identifiable information may be gathered from email list subscription forms, surveys, community postings (e.g., email lists), feedback, and direct email, among other sources.  Personally identifiable information on individual users will not be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties except when such disclosure is court ordered, to comply with a government agency, or in cases of abuse or neglect of a child, or where a danger to life or property mandates such disclosure.

Hate-Crime Network

Information collected by special HATE-CRIME NETWORK forms is used to gather statistical data about hate violence; to publicize, prevent and respond to such incidents; to assist victims whenever possible; and for no other purpose.  Online hate crime incident report data may be used for publicly disseminated alerts but will not contain personally identifiable information. To have such alerts generated, users must give permission when completing the online form or subsequently through written consent. Third parties may be permitted to contact the user by having messages relayed to the user by way of LAMBDA (see below). LAMBDA is in no way responsible for the actions of such third parties.

Non personally identifiable details about reported incidents will be used for advocacy, support, and public awareness purposes.   Victim support email messages and victim feedback messages will be pre-screened by LAMBDA representatives prior to being forwarded.  Such messages will be tracked/delivered through the use of generic tracking numbers and will not reveal any personal contact information.  Messages which contain text that are believed not conform to this principle of relative anonymity will be not be forwarded and will be deleted. Any subsequent contact between the user and any outside entity is entirely at the users own risk and LAMBDA recommends that the user not reveal any personally identifiable information. All of the personal information collected on these sites will remain strictly confidential and will not be shared with any other organization under any circumstances.
