Nevertheless, the fallout in the lesbigay community is already becoming clear. There seem to be three main reactions to the parliamentary cop-out which continues to deny us of our rights. There are those who will continue to work through the existing 'respectable' institutions - the Stonewall Group, the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, OUTRIGHT Scotland, the Northern Ireland Gay Rights Association, etc. Supporters of these organisations argue that by continued quiet persuasion of MPs much can be achieved. They suggest that it was their campaigning which caused Edwina Currie to propose her amendment in the first place. Then, there are those whose anger can no longer be contained. They argue for extra-parliamentary means - the recent illegal march on Parliament being but one manifestation of their proposed programme of fighting for the right to shag. Peter Tatchell is at the heart of this approach - and all power to his elbow - even if it is usually the younger and keener members of OUTRAGE who tend to get arrested and not the old campaigner himself! We have no problem with either of these approaches - they can be complementary and, often are practiced by the same people - albeit discreetly. What we have no time for are those who regard 18 as some sort of advance - something which we can be proud of achieving. And something that, having been achieved, allows us to retire gracefully to our pubs and clubs. When previous legislation was passed in Scotland in 1980 setting the age at 21, the Scottish Homosexual Rights Group suffered a dramatic drop in membership. The rationale was "Oh well, my boyfriend and I are both over 21 so we're legal now and to hell with everybody else". A similar decline in the membership of CHE occured slightly earlier as, following the rise in the commercial gay scene, the perceived need for the social facilities provided by the group declined. But the 1967 law change in England and Wales, which provided Scots and the Irish with the impetus to organise to achieve similar legislation, helped to keep the lid on the anger of the gayletariat. We can thank a Tory Government for Section 28 which was responsible for the mobilisation of a new and effective lesbigay anger. If we are to achieve further change - leading to our ultimate goal of equality (When do we want it? Now!) - we must keep that spark of anger alive. To retire, complacent, to the gay ghetto is a betrayal of all young gay people. It is not, however, necessary to make a point of having sex with sixteen year old guys solely as a political act. The fact you both want to do it is quite reason enough! John Hein ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SCENE NEWS ========== BLACKPOOL What do Hinge and Bracket, Ceri Dupree and La Cage Aux Folles all have in common? They don't have their faces done by the same person as did Ivy Brennan! Wrong, they are all appearing soon at the Grand Theatre, famous for its Dorothy friendly shows. On Sunday the 3rd of April, Hinge and Bracket are doing their "21 Glorious Years". Whilst on the 10th April it's a Ms Dupree Spectacular, followed on the 10th - 14th May by the outrageously camp "La Cage Aux Folles". So don't forget to pack those essential items in your suitcase - bouffants, ball gowns and boobies. (must remember to get mine out from the dry cleaners) The Grand also owns Matchams Bar at the side of the theatre and barman Gerry is sure to keep you amused for hours with his stories of the shows. Festival 94, sees a programme of spectacular events running throughout the season with the centenary celebrations of the Grand Theatre and my favourite phallus, the Tower. Don't forget that it is only 50p "a ride" at the weekends in the Pleasure Beach. If all that isn't enough then Tony and Linda are waiting for you in Lucy's Bar. While in Basil's empire, there is as usual a brilliant month of entertainment culminating in an appearance by the one and only BOY GEORGE on the 29th April. The long awaited return of the fantastic BANANARAMA has had to be rescheduled due to a recording commitment PULSE will keep you up to date as soon as we have details. Easter weekend in Empire Basil include appearances by Mop and Bucket, Penny Change, Dynamite, Kevin Peters and Betty Legs Diamond to name a few. Best to check the bars for details. Well I'm off to pack my overnight bag for the holidays, (if only) the college is sending me to Wales to do manly things I wasn't made for. Can you imagine me rock climbing and sheep shagging, no neither can I. If I chip just one finger nail it will not be a happy handbag. Enjoy Blackpool. See you there Tony EDINBURGH Anchors up for the good ship Edinburgh (a trawler). As ever, PULSE is first with all the scene news that really matters. We can exclusively reveal what must be the best kept secret of the year (from the other publications anyway). Thursday the 14th of April sees the grand opening in Edinburgh of INSINUENDOS cabaret venue and Q.T.s.Bar. From the look of the club's menu, I am sure that INSINUENDOS will make all of Edinburgh sit up and take notice. We shall be reviewing said club in the May issue. See the club's advert on page 21 for details. First stop for your ever striving auntie this month (striving for what though!) was the Sunday Club's second birthday bash. What was in essence a thank you for the club's tried and tested regulars turned out to be more of a Le Vell family reunion with Brenda's "soul sisters" the Rolly Pollys dazzling us with a very original blend of tap dancing and step aerobics combined into one mind - bending performance. We were also treated to a Drag competition in which the lovely Declan, alias Madonna, trashed the competition to be placed first equal. Personally I thought the first prize should have been awarded to Morgan, Brenda and Billy from the Duck, who, when dancing together had me convinced that they were in fact the Rolly Pollys - I didn't know that you could tap dance Billy. Another ship on the move this month is the Blue Moon Cafe. Have no fear it is only moving a few yards up the road to bigger premises (size queen). This is good news for all of us young things. Now we sha'n't have to put up with being seduced over our vegetarian lasagne. I hope! On the subject of the blue moon, Blue Moon Productions who bring you "JOY" have informed me that club will now be held downstairs in the larger arena each week - not before time too! This long overdue move will allow us all more room to boogie and give us some more seating area to aim our bums at, and no more sweaty homophobics with white gloves and glow sticks trying to annoy one and all. The Joy posse are also lending a helping hand to the West and Wilde appeal with a special support night on Friday the 8th of April. By the time we go to press, SAM will have hosted their Gay Men's Project night with an appearance by the one and only Lilly Savage along with Katrina and the Boy at the Red Hot Pepper Club. I hope you all gave generously - financially speaking. As promised in last month's issue, I can announce the appearance of "Trannies With Attitude" behind the deks of the UK's campest and supposedly most trendy club - Burger Queen - on April the 2nd. A good night is promised to all from those Media Prostitutes of the nineties. As Easter is upon us, it is fitting that wee Peter has been resurected behind the bar. I'm not so sure that it is the first time that the randy little devil has risen from someones grave. Well thats it folks, see you all next month. Remember to play safe. Alex NEWCASTLE The main news to come out of Newcastle this month is the opening of two new one-nighters - CRUISE and FIRE ISLAND. Cruise at the Bliss Nightclub on Market Street on a Tuesday is being hosted by DJ Sal. We hope to bring you details in next month's Scene News. The first Monday in May sees the opening of Fire Island at Planet Earth. The main theme for this Monday club will be the appearance of top class drag acts and strippers from London, most of them seldom seen in the north of the country. GLASGOW Like Newcastle, there seems to be a bit of spring in the air in the Glasgow area with the opening of a couple of one-nighters and a leak of a possible third gay club for Glasgow's thriving scene. More news on the new club next month. The first of the new one-nighters is to be held at the Palace Night-club in Hamilton on the 4th of May under the banner of - FREEDOM. In Glasgow a change of colour is about to take place, Ivory Blacks in Oswald Street is going Pink on a Wednesday. This new city centre venue will be offering a mixture of live entertainment and disco with doors open at 8.30pm. Round at Bennets this month the main news is of the appearance of WORLDS APART on Sunday the 10th of April. Sure to be a packed house so get there early to avoid the queue. The menu at CLUB-X this month includes appearances by NEW EMOTION, MENERGY and your old favourite MAXINE BARRY. One date for the diary at the club is the Switchboard's 20th birthday bash on Friday 29th April. On the pub scene Delmonica's highlights this month include the return of BARBARA BRYCELAND (BABS) and MILLIE, see the pubs advert for details. It had been a few weeks since I had had a sherry or two over on the south side with my young sister Margaret Mary of Guys Bar fame. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few well known faces that I had not seen for a while. Proving the point that there is life after death. See you all next month - Pauli. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OFF THE SCENE ============= Tired of bars and clubs? Need a break from the old routine? Gordon Gosnell takes a look at Newcastle off the Scene. Every few months or so we shall be having a look at some of the places where the not so scene orientated like to spend their time. Covering places like cafes, museums, art galleries and general places of interest. For the first of our in-depth reports we took the camera to Newcastle. My first impressions of Newcastle were made at night, and it really was a bit of a surprise when in daylight I was able to see some of the extremely beautiful buildings in and around the city centre. One street in particular, Grey Street is reputed to have the longest expanse of Georgian architecture in Europe - its sweeping stretch is really quite breathtaking. Away from the pubs and clubs, the cafe scene in Newcastle is as vibrant as anywhere outside London. My favourite is aptly named Heaven. Situated in Pink Lane (where else) Heaven is a very busy cafe/art gallery with a varied choice of menu that changes daily. If you intend to go on a Sunday lunch time, I would advise that you go early as it tends to get very busy and seats are hard to find. The longest established gay and lesbian coffee haunt is the Tyneside Cinema Cafe in Pilgrim Street. Although the clientele are mixed, lesbians and gay are usually in the majority. The cinema itself shows many gay and lesbian films and is host to a yearly lesbian and gay film festival. Another cafe on a similar vein to Heaven is Cafe Procope, situated on The Side (that's correct). This cafe, although not fully gay, is well mixed and really works hard at providing a good continental cafe image. Procope has a good mixed menu to pick from although the service is well known for bring a bit laid back (slow). Another two cafes worth a mention are the Grand Circle Cafe within the Royal Theatre, and the Red Herring vegetarian cafe - the latter being quite popular with the local lesbian population. Museums have always been popular meeting places for gay men, many of whom prefer the more laid back atmosphere therein to the busy pub and club scene. One not to be missed is the Hancock Museum. Outside of London, it is reputed to be the best natural history museum in the country. What a way to educate a young mind, and still have time to cruise as well. On the theme of education, the next port of call must be the Museum of Science and Engineering in Blandford Street. All this cruising around the place can work up an appetite and where better to eat than in house as it were? The Laing Art Gallery and Museum not only offers its very mixed clientele a most interesting way of passing a few hours, but its well stocked cafe gives ample scope to stoke the boilers without having to divert away from your itinerary. If, like me, you are getting on a bit, then the Museum of Antiquities at Newcastle University might be the place for you. If Roman history is your thing, then this is the place for you. You know the old saying "When in Rome do as the Romans do". Where are the baths my boy? To do all these places justice, I would advise at spending at least a long weekend in Newcastle, and where should you stay? Well in my humble opinion, the top of the tree must go to the one and only Cheviot View Guest House, where for the past three and a half years mine host Colin Brownlee has entertained one and all in his very gracious home. The Cheviot View, although small, is perfectly formed (Very well appointed and kept in impeccable condition). As well as the 5 bedrooms there is a Drawing Room, Empire Lounge and cocktail bar. All in all, Colin sets a standard that many of the more expensive hotels could well do to copy. As the infamous Miss Brodie would say "La creme de la creme". Enjoy your stay, and tell Colin we sent you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FIT UP! ======= A heterosexual man, Stuart Mitchell Gair, is currently in Glenochil Prison serving a life sentence for the murder of a gay man. He is innocent. Gair approached Pulse last year and asked us if we could help him prove it. In the last seven months, a massive amount of research has been done and his innocence has become abundantly clear. Pulse is now looking for a number of people who were involved as witnesses at his trial who we believe were 'persuaded' by police to give false evidence. It is time they came forward and helped to undo the damage which they have done. Gair's solicitor went out of business shortly after his trial and none of the papers can be traced. Things are not helped by many of the witnesses giving their addresses as c/o the Police. Peter Dewar Smith, was violently stabbed in North Court Lane, St Vincent Place, Glasgow at around 11pm on 11th April 1989. He died from his injuries on the 29th of April in the Royal Infirmary. The day after the stabbing, Stuart Gair was arrested in connection with a break in at a Chemist. His girlfriend, who, like Gair was a heroin user, hadn't turned up to collect her timed prescription for methadone. The police presumed that this was because Gair had already collected the drug without benefit of the prescription during the break in. Gair maintains that he had nothing to do with the break in. In the event, he was not brought to trial over it, but outstanding assault charges were discovered and he was held in custody. Gair does not deny these assault charges. On 5th May, at 11pm, a bisexual man, (who we shall call Vincent to protect his privacy), was stopped by a uniformed police officer at Buchanan Street Bus Station. He was shown a photofit sketch and asked "Don't you think this looks like you?" He was asked to wait whilst the officer radioed for CID officers and two eventually arrived and asked Vincent to go with them to Stewart Street Police Office which he did voluntarily. He was then questioned by three officers, in the early hours of the morning, for over three hours before being taken to a proper interview room where he gave another interview which was taped. In it, he 'confessed' that he, Gair, and two other persons were involved in the stabbing of Peter Smith. He was then formally charged with murder. We at Pulse have seen a transcript of that tape recording and it is self-evident that Vincent was being prompted by officers throughout and knew nothing of the events which he described. A major part of the interview consists of 'mm mm' responses to detailed leading questions asked by officers. Apart from Gair, whom he claimed to have known for a couple of weeks (changed to 6 or 6/7 weeks during the taped interview) he named a Charlie, whom he had only met that night, and another man, who he claimed had been involved. In fact, Vincent had never met Gair. The other man was later interviewed - once - by police and then heard nothing more about the affair until he was contacted by an investigator trying to prove the innocence of Gair. And this was a murder suspect? Gair and Vincent were both charged with murder but, two days before the trial, Vincent was told by his QC that the charge would be dropped if he gave evidence against Gair. The trial proceeded on this basis. However, Vincent then gave evidence that he did not know Gair or anything about the murder. He was promptly arrested and threatened with being charged with perjury and told that he would be imprisoned for that offence. Through fear of imprisonment and acting under duress, he went back to court and reverted to the statement that he had made on tape. This was enough to convict Gair. Vincent has since attempted suicide on two occasions as a result of depression caused by his feelings of guilt at putting an innocent man behind bars. There were a number of other witnesses who gave identification evidence against Gair. The first was an undertaker who was sitting in his car outside the toilets in St Vincent Street and claimed to have seen the incident. We need to trace this man who we believe may be gay and may have been blackmailed by threats of having his sexuality disclosed if he did not identify Gair. We need to trace three other young men: David George Cairney Smith (formerly of 7/1 Inchmickery Court, Edinburgh), Brian Morrison and Andrew Learmonth (also known as John Archibald). Gair had never seen any of them before his trial and fails to understand how they could have identified him. The evidence available to Pulse clearly indicates that they could not have seen him at St Vincent Street because he was never there! Any readers of Pulse are asked to pass on, in confidence, any knowledge they may have of these men who, we believe, are victims of police malpractice every bit as much as Gair. Please phone us on 0505 335021 or write to the address at the front of the magazine. Gair's defence was one of alibi - at the time of the stabbing, he was babysitting in the DHSS Guest House in which he lived. His girlfriend, who was one of his witnesses, has since died as a result of complications from AIDS (Gair has tested negative for HIV). A letter from her which would help to further prove his innocence has been 'lost' by police. Another of his witnesses, Hector Wood, who shared a room with Gair at the guest house on the night of the murder, failed to appear at the trial. It is believed that he is now in Australia. Although they never met, both Gair and Peter Smith were from Plean. We believe that it was this connection which led to the police jumping to certain conclusions and to their massage of the evidence against Gair. There was no forensic evidence indicating his guilt - and remember that this was a violent stabbing during which the perpetrator would have been covered in blood. Neither did Gair's (or Vincent's) clothing match that originally circulated by police. As a drug user, Gair was known to the police, and was an obvious target in order to clear up a case quickly. In the eyes of the police, he was a 'piece of shit' and expendable. In fact, he is an intelligent young man whose fall into crime is the result of his drug use. A concerned citizen has delivered a 250 page document detailing the inconsistencies in the evidence against Gair to the Scottish Office and the campaign to clear him has begun. On 3rd of August 1989, less than four months after the murder of Peter Smith, another man, Billy Harris from Dundee, was murdered in Glasgow - this time in National Bank Lane. His murderer, like that of Peter Smith, has never been brought to trial. John Hein ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FOOD FOR THOUGHT ================ This month I thought we would find something for the Vegetarians among you. One of Spain's favourite vegetables in peasant cooking is the humble Chickpea. Along with the Pumpkin this is a nice way to introduce you to two unusual veg's that really go well together. GIPSY STEW - serves four 8 oz Chickpeas, 4 tblsp Olive Oil, 1 Large Onion - chopped 1 Ripe tomato (skinned and chopped ) 1 pt Vegetable stock Salt and Pepper 5 oz Pumpkin - skinned and chopped 5 oz of Sliced green beans 3 Firm Pears - Peeled and chopped 1 Slice of white bread 1 Clove of Garlic - crushed 20 Whole almonds - toasted 1 tblsp White wine vinegar Pinch of ground saffron 1 tblsp Paprika Parsley to garnish Bring 3 pints of water to the boil. Add the chickpeas and simmer for one hour. Strain and reserve. While the chickpeas are cooking heat 2 tblsp oil in a large saucepan. Add the onion and tomato and cook gently for 10 minutes. Add the stock and chickpeas, then season to taste. Add the pumpkin and beans and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the pears and simmer for a further 10 minutes. Meanwhile heat the rest of the oil in a frying pan, fry the bread and garlic until golden. Remove and drain on a bit of kitchen towel. To thicken the stew, blend to a paste the bread and almonds, wine vinegar, safron and paprika. Then add to the stew, simmer for a few minutes serve and garnish with parsley. See you next month! Have fun! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLASSIC INTRODUCTIONS ===================== Hi, has it been a month already? Well! I've been doing a little delving into the vast pool of Classical Music to try and dig out some of the most inexpensive yet worth listening to bits of music for you to try out on your hot little CDs. This month's selection is from the EMI Classics for Pleasure range CD-CPF 9009. Owain Arwell Hughes conducts Much Loved Music, with the Halle Orchestra. This disc is full of popular themes, and with it being Easter, there is the so apt famous Easter hymn from the opera Cavalleria Rusticana, Regina Coelia (Queen of Heaven) or what ever disco she goes to, and as we all know most queens like to come in twos - enter the Queen of Sheba. All in all good value for around 5.99ukp. What about some music to curl up and listen to with your or for that matter someone else's favourite person? Let's set the scene, it's a rotten night on the telly, you decide to make that special meal, and all that entails. Once you are both fed and watered and are feeling that special tingle, settle back and listen to a selection from the Naxos recording of the ever so romantic French Festival. (DDD 8550088) I am sure you will love this disc. It is full of all that dreamy let me hold you tight music, so cuddle up and listen to the beautiful music of Ravel, Debussy, Satie, Faure, and many others just soothing you into the mood for love (what a queen). If your lover has a slow hand this is the disc for you. On to the Opera, yes I have to admit "I am an Italian Opera Queen". I will be introducing some Opera to this column at a later date. I do love the music but can't stand the singing! That is the usual response to Opera by a lot of people when they first listen to it, however I will see if I can help to change your mind. Until next month listen and enjoy. Renata Roadrola. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HEALTH MATTERS ============== SAFE SUN? One of the things that keeps me going during the long winter months (as well as she who must be obeyed) is dreaming of the summer holidays: Sun, sand and sex, (not in any particular order). Getting the suitcase packed at the last minute and running to catch the train to the airport. Think about it, lying under the sun with your man in one hand a drink in the other and an eye on the local talent, pure bliss just lying there getting that all over tan you have been promising yourself all year. However, let's think about the "Burning Issue" for a moment. Remember - Too much sun can lead to skin cancer - especially if you burn. The number of skin cancer cases has increased over the past few years, but here are a few tips to help you reduce your risk factor. 1) Avoid the midday sun - never sunbathe between 11am and 2pm. 2) Always use sunscreens on your skin, and be careful to pick the one best suited to your skin type. The more sun sensitive you are the more protection you need. 3) Reapply the sunscreen frequently - every 2 or 3 hours on average. 4) Wear good sunglasses, how can you spot the talent if you burn your eyes? Always remember that burnt skin does not tan more quickly, only more painfully. Too much sun can cause the skin to become wrinkled and leathery, making you look old before your time. So next time you are out in the sun remember the three S's - Slip, Slop, Slap. Slip on a top, Slop on the sunscreen, Slap on a hat. Remember the sun will always be there tomorrow, slowly slowly a little at a time. Enjoy the holidays when they come round and take care. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SNIPITS ======= Yet another first for PULSE: Not content to be supplying you with your monthly copy through the club, bar and cafe scene, we are pleased to announce that Pulse is the first Gay Magazine in the UK to be available on the Internet. Already we have over 500 new subscribers who receive their magazine monthly via their computers. If you would like your copy delivered by e-mail send a message to: pulse@drink.demon.co.uk - the message should contain the words "subscribe pulse". We are also available on Lambda Board and CIX. Amnesty International, the world's largest human rights organisation, has announced that it will consider any gay man between the ages of 16 and 18 to be a prisoner of conscience. Amnesty is to monitor any prosecutions that are brought for under age gay sex following the House of Commons decision to lower the age of consent for gay men to 18 and not 16. Tory MP Ann Widdecombe, one of the MPs who voted against an equal age of consent, has stated that she does not want to be sent any further copies of the Pink Paper. She claims that " This is not the sort of material that should be issued unsolicited." Here here Ann, your copy of PULSE is in the post. Greater Manchester police have teamed up with safer sex project MESMAC and Manchester Metropolitan University to conduct a survey into homophobic attacks in the area. The project is to be funded jointly by the Greater Manchester police (5,000ukp) and the Metropolitan University (1,000ukp). Edinburgh's lesbian and gay cafe The Blue Moon is, as we go to press, in the proccess of moving out of the old gay centre premises it has occupied for the past six years. Moving only fifty yards up the road, owner Alan Nicholls feels that the expanding business was in need of the extra space provided by the new premises. We at PULSE wish Alan well. In a very competitive market place he will soon find out the realities of the free market. Ask Bob Orr at West and Wilde. As we go to press, the trial of two young heterosexual men for the murder of Glasgow Crown Prosecutor Marshall Stormonth reached its climax with both being found guilty. The brothers Steven (21) and Dean Ryan (17) were sentenced to life. Trial judge Lord Osborne told the brothers: "This crime is one which is repellent to all normal members of the public and you are going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of your lives." From this issue onwards, Pulse will be available in the Liverpool area. If you fancy being a Scene Correspondent or Advertising Agent (or even both!) Many of the blatant images of male sexuality are said to upset lesbians. And 'that sort of thing' gives gays a bad name anyway. My lesbian friends tell me that they are more bored than disgusted by willies - something which I can quite relate to, working, as I do, in a heterosexual environment where pin-up crotch shots of women are . As to getting us a bad name - Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn! Behind it all is, I believe, the British attitude to sex. It's OK as long as you don't talk about it, draw attention to it, or do it in the streets and frighten the horses. There has been a lot of adverse comment about sexlines in the straight press over the years - mostly from the rags that have decided to loose out on the advertising for these lines and use this 'moral stand' as a stick to beat their competitors. What then do these lines provide? The Chatlines are a glorified party-line - you phone the number and find yourself dumped into a random conversation with up to ten people. Usually, you'll find an operator on the line who does their best to draw people out, keep up the chat, generally make everybody at home and, of course, keep people on the line as long as possible ticking up the units on the phone bill. Some chatline providors have strict rules about not passing your phone number out on chatlines, but their operators often have to deal with a number of different numbers and can't be on the line ALL the time! If you do want to pass personal details, then there are other services which are taylor made for you. Most allow you to record a short message abourt yourself which is then played to other caller. If the other caller is interested, they can get your phone number by phoning up the relevant operator and quoting your reference number Another class of sexline is the Storyline - there you will hear pre-recorded dirty stories - with storylines to satisfy most tastes. Sadly, these aren't as spicy as they used to be - you can blame British Prudery in the shape of the Law for that. Sexlines aren't cheap at 36p per minute in the evenings (during the day at 48p per minute it takes an understanding boss to let you use the phone!). However, for many people who can afford it, they are a fun way of meeting other gay people. I ask you: Where else will you get a docker in Dover, a hairdresser in Helensburgh and a farmer in Flamborough all talking about the delights of nipple piercing? For many people who aren't lucky enough to live near to a pub or club, chatlines are the ONLY way of meeting other people - after all, if you live in a village with one bus a week, how on earth are you going to get into town if you don't have a car? But it's not just the socially and geographically isolated who use chatlines - I am amazed at the number of people I hear on them who I bump into the following night in my local gay pub. Sex is good and the sexlines are just another way of getting it - use them, if you dare! ------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTACTS ======== To reply to a Contact Ad: Just pop your reply in an envelope with the box number written in the TOP RIGHT corner and place the envelope with your reply inside another envelope with two loose first class stamps.
