I need a big favour from all you gaynetters across the globe. Our
parliament in the UK is going to debate the age of consent. At the
moment the age of consent for conenting heterosexuals is sixteen,
for gay men it's twenty-one. Lesbians aren't even mentioned in law
(this didn't stop a women being prosecuted recently for having sex
with another woman under the age of 21).

We feel that this is a gross inequality. All we want is that the age
of consent is the same for everyone without discrimination. Most
countries in Europe already have an equal age of consent.

I'm part of a postal action scheme, each month we get a mailshot of
a person or group to target and we write them letters. This approach
seems to work and we've had quite a few successes. This time we were
asked to write to John Major (prime minister) asking him to equalise
the age of consent. We were also asked to contact friends, relatives
and get them to send a postcard simply saying 'Equal age of consent,
NOW'.
