I got a request from Ron Buckmire to send some information on the Dutch 
gay movement COC for QRD so here ot comes:

N.V.I.H.-COC stands for "Nederlandse Vereniging tot integratie van 
Homosexualiteit"-COC (COC used to be an abbeviation for "Cultuur en 
Onspanningscentrum", the former name of the organisation). The English 
name is "Dutch Association for the integration of homosexuality"-COC. 
The N.V.I.H.-COC started its activities in 1946 under the name "Shakespeare 
Club" and was founded by people who had been involved in the pre-war
"Wetenschappelijk Humanitair Kommittee" founded in 1911 by mr. Schorer as 
the Dutch section of the German "Wissenschaftlich Humanitaires Kommitee".
