BIGS (the Batam Island Gay Society) is for all intents and purposes disbanded. Another group has formed in the meantime, i.e. BAGASY (Batam Gay Society) with the address: P.O. Box 212, BATAM CENTRE 29400. 2. The [Christian] League for Peaceful Life of Surabaya has planned a worship service on the March 22 and the April 12 1996, to take place at 7:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (GMT +7). 3. The Waria Association (Hiwaria) of Bali has formed with Susan Tolani as Director. 4. The Gaya Nusantara meeting held on the first Sunday of each month has been discontinued, and a substitute face-to-face meeting with our comrades will occur every Monday and Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. 5. Ketut Yasa (of Gaya Dewata), who at KLGI (Indonesian Lesbian and Gay Congress) II (Bandung - 95) was selected as Steering Committee Chair for the upcoming KLGI III (Bali - 97), has transferred his duties to Didi Soedjono (of Gaya Nusantara) to gather members for the Steering Committee of KLGI III. 6. We have obtained news that Chris Green is no longer associated with the Pelita Ilmu Foundation, and is now associated with the Mitra Indonesia Foundation. HEALTH 1. Dede Oetomo (Gaya Nusantara) has made a presentation on "Youth and AIDS" as part of the "Festival of Youth" program undertaken jointly by AN-TV, HAI Magazine, and radio Casanova Denpasar. 2. Dede Oetomo (Gaya Nusantara) has been asked to serve as a consultant by the Abdi Asih Foundation of Surabaya in their "Vaginal Douching" project. PUBLIC RELATIONS 1. Several students in the anthropology program at Airlangga University are conducting a thesis study of "camp" at Calfor (a gay meeting and cruising area in Surabaya). 2. SCTV has contacted Gaya Nusantara and is interested in creating a television report on lesbians. 3. Dede Oetomo of Gaya Nusantara has received an invitation from the Islamic University Students' Association of Indonesia--Malang for a seminar on "Campuses, Students, and Prostitution." 4. Matra Magazine, in their April 1996 edition (no. 117), interviewed Dede Oetomo about lesbian issues in an article named "Problems of the Upper Class" (pages 68-69).
