 Armed Men Attack AIDS Foundation and Gay Men's Group; 
 ARENA mayor tries to outlaw homosexuality
 
 On Saturday June 24, several armed men forcibly entered the
 offices of FUNDASIDA, a non-governmental organization which
 supports people who are HIV positive or have AIDS.  They stole
 the FUNDASIDA computer with their data base, as well as their
 archives.  Since then, FUNDASIDA has received threatening
 telephone calls, specifically against their executive director
 and against the gay men's group, Entre Amigos, which had been
 meeting at FUNDASIDA.  Entre Amigos' archives were amongst those
 stolen, and they fear for the safety of their membership.
 
 Mario Valiente, the ARENA mayor of San Salvador, is proposing
 legislation which would outlaw "homosexuality and prostitution"
 in San Salvador.  Reportedly, this is modeled after a similar law
 in effect in Managua, where people who "look gay" are subject to
 detention for no reason.
