For this reason, TRIANGULO ROSA, the first legally recognized gay group, has been established to help the human rights of gays and lesbians, as well as transvestites, bisexuals, and transexuales. The fundamental purpose of Triangulo Rosa is to struggle against any form of discrimination against those persons who are attracted to members of the same sex. We are also interested in helping to coordinate a Central American movement for the rights of sexual minorities. We would like to create a variety of projects including a psychological clinic, a library focusing on the areas of human rights as well as AIDS, and various other types of workshops and courses focusing on areas such as AIDS prevention, empowerment of sexual minorities, and support for HIV+ persons and people with AIDS. Our group was born four years ago in the rural area of San Pedro de Poas, in the province of Alajuela, with the purpose of obtaining our rights and self- respect, and now we have become the most important gay group in Costa Rica. We feel positive about what we have accomplished but our goals are more ambitious. We would welcome the collaboration and support of other organizations and individuals throughout the world. We do have urgent financial needs in order to operationalize our programs. You can contact us in the following ways: By mail: Apartado Postal 1619-4050 Alajuela, Costa Rica By e-mail: rastern@sol.racsa.co.cr By telephone or fax: (506) 234-2411 We look forward to hearing from you.
