Date: Mon, 5 Feb 1996 09:09:30 -0600 From: cblanca@sol.racsa.co.cr (Hotel Casa Blanca de Ml. Ant. S.A.) Subject: Tringulo Rosa / Costa Rica TRINGULO ROSA proudly announces: On Saturday, February 3rd Costa Rica=B4s new gay community center called Triangulo Rosa was officially inaugurated in Alajuela. The ceremony was attended by more than 60 persons as well as representatives from the Dutch embassy. It was really a motivating experience for me to see so many people with so much enthusiasm. It reminded me of the stonewall days of the early 70=B4s when I was a gay activitist back in Chicago. Of course, we didn=B4t = have AIDS then and that is a major difference. The Dutch are providing funds for Triangulo Rosa to develop AIDS prevention programs for gays in Alajuela and all of the rural provinces of Costa Rica. If anyone has any contacts in these areas, please let me know. Our most immediate goal is to begin to give weekend prevention workshops for gay people in Puntarenas, Limon, Guanacaste, and Heredia, as well as to continue the programs already running in Alajuela. For those of you interested in activities in our new center, we have the following schedule: Saturday night: 7:30 coffee house with a different theme each week. =46irst three Fridays of each month: Youth support group, Age 22 and under o= nly. Last Friday of Each Month: PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Gays and Lesbians) Wednesday: Activities with a Political Theme. Thursday: Taller Integral de Prevencion de SIDA, call or write for information about when next cycle begins Monday: English classes. We also need volunteers to help us develop more and better programs. We are awaiting the installation of our telephone, but in the meantime you can call me at 234-2411 which is also fax or e-mail rastern@sol.racsa.co.cr. We have some written information in Spanish from Arenal=B4s pages and some other Web pages, but we would like information about other Web pages in Spanish that are for gays or that have information about AIDS. (we have found "Noah" from the Federal govt as well and "SIDA en Mexico", both of which have something). Thank you.
