UZ SRC CONDEMNS ZIBF TEAM ------------------------- The University of Zimbabwe Students' Representative Council has condemned the Zimbabwe International Book Fair management for initially allowing the Gays and Lesbians Association of Zimbabwe to participate at this year's book fair. In a statement in Harare last night the SRC said it thought Zimbabwe's position on the issue of gays and lesbians had been clearly understood. "We are definitely going to find ourselves at the Book Fair, invited or uninvited, but as Zimbabwean ID card holders". The SRC said it should be known to the ZIBF management "that their uncultural behavior may prove detrimental to the Book Fair" and may see the gays and lesbians "face public extinction unceremoniously". ================================================================================ COMMENT : GALZ MADE AN URGENT APPLICATION TO HIGH COURT YESTERDAY TO HAVE THE PROHIBITION ORDER OVERTURNED. TODAY THE APPLICATION WAS CONSIDERED AND THE PROHIBITION NOTICE WAS OVERTURNED. IT WAS EXPECTED HOWEVER, THAT A FURTHER INJUNCTION WILL BE SERVED ON GALZ LATER ON TODAY.
