Date: Sat, 19 Aug 1995 14:30:07 +0200 (MSZ) From: Bj|rn Skolander PRESIDENT OF ZIMBABWE DISMISSES CRITICISM President Robert Mugabe yesterday dismissed gay-rights activists who have criticized his anti-homosexual comments and been warned they will be imprisoned if they come to Zimbabwe. Mugabe said he had received reports of demonstrations outside Zimbabwean diplomatic missions in Britain and South Africa by activists protesting his outspoken anti-gay sentiments. "They can demonstrate," he said. "But if they come here, we will throw them in jail." The Zimbabwean leader, meeting with a Christian women's group, called for an international campaign "to oppose those who support homosexuality."
