Date: Tue, 29 Nov 1994 10:59:28 -0500 (EST) From: David Casti Subject: ACTION ALERT: AT&T Needs to hear from you Hi folks, Even if you have no love of AT&T, let them know that you appreciate what they are doing for their gay employees. The opposition isn't letting up, and we shouldn't forget to support our allies... David. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Yesterday, a message was sent to a few lists. The subject line was "Anti-gay group blasts AT&T". Some of our members (LEAGUE) have received calls on how to be supportive of AT&T. Normally the "Hot Topic" of the month, dies down, however the AFA continues to publish articles month after month about how pro gay AT&T is. These articles are duplicated and distributed at churches nationwide. Your help is very much needed! Since May, the Chairman and other executives have received many comments, via calls and letters, from customers and employees regarding AT&T's Lesbigay policy, education and growth opportunities i.e. Brian's McNaughts Workshop, and community involvement i.e. Gay Games and the May '94 advertising campaign. Most of the comments via letter or call, have been negative. The Chairman's Executive Response Center (CERC) in Basking Ridge, NJ address these customer comments, and take the calls and receive the letters for response. It is apparent that people will continue to contact AT&T in this regard. As a community we can support AT&T in their decisions and activities relative to our community by speaking out positively. What is needed is a steady stream of positive statements of support. The CERC issues monthly reports to the executives with the numbers of calls/letters, both positive and negative, about this issue. We need to have more positive response numbers monthly, and ask for your ongoing help. An e-mail id has been set up to send messages to. You can send your periodic comments to: E-Mail: attmail!csc This will come directly to the CERC and will be included in the executive reports. (or if you prefer to write) Mail: Chairman's Executive Response Center 295 North Maple Av. Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 If you are just lending support - and do not wish a response -- please include that information. It would save us a lot of time -- and we would still report your view ("pro" or "con") in our report to executives. FYI, regarding the AFA and our pink triangle...it is being said that the triangle is being used within AT&T as liberal intimidation, and those who do not display it are viewed as anti-corporation and anti-christian. The analogy used is that there are no crosses or wheel chairs displayed. AT&T is even being attacked for recent substantial $$ donations to GMHC (Gay Men's Health Crisis) and other AIDS support organizations. Thanks in advance for your support, and spread the word!
