Come down and cover our events and you won't be disappointed! Tacoma is proud to offer our 4th Pride Weekend on July 8-9,2000! There truly is something for everyone! On Saturday, join the flamboyant Pride on Broadway sponsored by Pacific Northwest Pride. The theme is "Express Yourself" and will run parade style from 7th and St. Helens to 13th and Broadway. It will culminate at Theater Square on Broadway where 3 bands are scheduled to play. The bands are Guitar by Josh and Joel, Sue Quigley and the Straight Guys (headliners), then Narcotic Lollipop. Le Tigre will perform her fantastic drag! Kick off is at 2 PM. Afterwards, adults may choose from parties at Destiny's, Diamonds and Pearls, Silverstone, 24th Street Tavern and the Airport Tavern. Sunday kicks off our first ever Family Oriented Pride March and Festival with no sponsorship by alcohol or tobacco companies. Come see another side to the Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian and Transgendered community. We are your friends, neighbors and relatives! The Pride March will offer floats and walkers with plenty of upbeat music and fun! Sign-up begins at 10 AM at G St. and Division following a prayer and blessing of the activities by New Heart Metropolitan Community Church. The March kicks off at 11 AM beginning at 4th and G St around the park via 6th to 4th and I St (the entrance to the festival). Bright balloons will mark the route! The Pride March is sponsored by Unity in Community. 'OUT in the Park' Pride Festival will offer booths by non-profit group, politicians, local artisans and businesses. There is a free children's area with games and an astrojump (sponsored by Silverstone)! The entertainment features a fantastic line-up from noon to 6 PM. Headlining is the Derivative Duo (comedic opera) with Brandon Rabi (magician), Nicole Staeheli (guitar), Mellina Germano (guitar), Belly Dance by Jaleh, Step Lessons by Brother to Brother, Vision (vocal quartet), Drag Queens, Auntie Bijou of Pride Statewide, The Tokens (interactive comedy troupe), Leaping Lesbians, Patrick and the Girls (Jazz), and last but not least, Madd Maxx and the Delicious Girls will produce an opening act and Finale to be remembered (sponsored by Destiny's).
