Date: Mon, 12 Jan 1998 08:56:47 -0800 From: Eros Publishing Subject: Press Release Press Release Topic: Lava Lounge to lose liquor license On the night of January 5th two unidentified virtual representatives of the Washington State Liquor Control Board paid an unscheduled visit to Seattle's virtual Leather bar, The Lava Lounge, located at www.wolfenet.com/~aubrey/lava.htm. Upon entering the premises, the officers found a number of men engaged in sexual activities of an undisclosed nature in the rest room. Upon further inspection, the officers found that several of the patrons were not in possession of their identification cards and that the general lighting of the room did not comply with the prescribed levels. As a result of these violations, several of the patrons were arrested for engaging in lewd conduct in a public place and The Lava Lounge faces the suspension of its license for an undetermined period of time. Aubrey Sparks, the owner of The Lava Lounge, immediately requested an appeal of the decision and a hearing has been scheduled. Until that time, the bar is on probation and the fines are pending the outcome of the hearing. "I don't care where people have sex," said one of the arresting officers, "just as long as they don't do it in my jurisdiction." A fund-raiser at The Lava Lounge is being planned to help cover the expenses being faced because of this situation and a defense fund has been established. Members of the community are being asked make a contribution of $5.00 or more, payable to The Pride Foundation, 1122 East Pike St. #1001, Seattle WA 9811-3934. Please be sure to indicate that this contribution is designated for The Lava Lounge Fund.
