Last year, with only nine weeks to plan the event, with no money and formidable debt, and a strong can-do attitude, the FDC made the event happen, and had a significant amount of money left over for 1998, which left us in a far better financial position than in the previous two years. Current treasurer's reports are always available for inspection. The FDC begins this organizing year with a constructive attitude to make the events of Gay Pride Day as fun and memorable as our community creates them to be. We will work to diminish any effect of the current minor controversy with PNWP, and keep it from affecting the 1998 Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Pride celebration. * The Freedom Day Committee has been in existence for fifteen years, and has been continually incorporated since 18 June 1997. * We are committed to maintaining the Parade and Rally as an inclusive, community event. This accounts for the size of the march, and ensures the best representation of the community diversity we prize so highly. * Our meetings are always publicized and open to the community. There are disagreements, and those are seen as representative of our community. Squelching disagreement doesn't make it go away, and we feel it is vital to the strength of our community to air those disagreements and work out solutions in public forums. * We encourage you to get involved, and help shape this event. Our meetings are held every Sunday evening, at 6pm. The location is Seattle Central Community College, in Portable B, room 108. Community participation and input is vital to our organizing, and we encourage e-mail and phone comments. * We are still looking for a female co-chair, and would welcome more female volunteers. * If you are part of a community group, contact us for booth and march applications so you can join in the celebration. We are also soliciting more food vendors, so any ideas you have in that department can be passed along to us at the above number. See you in the Park on Pride Day! http://www.wolfenet.com/~aubrey/cage/aubrey.htm
