They will show you the pleasant sides of CBT. Friday, November 27: Polyamory -- is it for you? Join us as we explore the often dangerous, but usually satisfying world of open relationships. Allena will host a panel/discussion. Bring your questions, ideas and experiences. BTEU starts at 7:00 PM and goes to 9:00 PM. It is generally followed by a Friday Night Fetish Party from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM. IMPORTANT! If you are planning to have dinner before the classes, please try to arrive before 6:00 PM. The kitchen gets backed up when everyone arrives at once and it can be disturbing to have food brought downstairs during the classes. Thanks. TASTE THIS TO PERFORM FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13 AT 10:00 PM If you saw them in 1995, you will want to see them again and if you haven't seen them yet, show up early as the seats will fill up fast. TASTE THIS was born in the fall of 1995. They are a group of four writers and performers who alone or in various combinations, tell stories, play the violin, drum and tin whistle, sometimes sing and sort of dance. They produce and direct all their own materials, making it up as they go along. Anna Camilleri, Ivan E. Coyote, Zoë Eakle and Lyndell Montgomery are launching their Canadian book tour by taking a quick boarder trip to Seattle where they performed in 1995. Besides performing at BTE they will have copies of their new book, "Boys Like Her" available for purchase. "Boys Like Her" follows the exploits of the foursome as they evade customs, tour the west coast, forget their underwear, break hearts and come clean. >From the day when six-year old Ivan sheds her bikini top and cannonballs with the boys, from the shattering accident after which Anna's face is beautifully reconstructed, bone and muscle by bone, from Zoë's Amsterdam "side-show" and the guiding spirit of Lyndell's violin, these young women shed identity and gender and embrace the truth that stories have no hard and fast boundaries, that gender and genre are malleable, and that transgression is often the way to transformation -- to transfictions. Join us Friday November 13 at 10:00 PM as they read from their book. Suggested donation $5 to $10 BTE ANNIVERSARY PARTY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15 November 15, Sunday Beyond the Edge Cafe's 3rd Anniversary and Play Party. Come help us celebrate! The recital will feature obscure classical piano works by Scriabine, MacDowell, Listz, Chopin and Debussy. These are pieces of music which are dark, langorous, lento or adagio, intense and thought provoking. They take your mind to a place we usually prefer to avoid. This expansion of our comfort zone is at the heart of masochism. "But I am a sadist now -- come hear my special kind of torture," Mr. Thom advises. "Wear something uncomfortable," the temperamental musician was heard to recently bellow. WOMEN'S PARTY THIS MONTH Beyond the Edge Cafe will be hosting our monthly play party Sunday, November 29.
