Date: Fri, 17 Jul 1998 14:31:14 -0700 From: Eros Publishing Subject: Press Release ISSUE #6, July 16, 1998 BEYOND THE EDGE CAFE FETISH GAZETTE FETISH GAZETTE FETISH GAZETTE an occasional newsletter about fetish (and other) activities at BEYOND THE EDGE CAFE 703 E. PIKE SEATTLE, WA 98122 206-325-6829 ladysun@eskimo.com www.powerotic.com/BTE/ WASHINGTON STATE MS LEATHER FUNDRAISER A HUGE SUCCESS! On Saturday, July 11 over 60 people got together to dine on incredible cuisine, watch an erotic and sexy fetish fashion show and contribute to an important cause, the Multiple Sclerosis Association. Eileen Fix, our reigning WSMsL title holder, along with many volunteers, raised over $1200 for MSA. And the $1200 is just the beginning. Part of the evening's money came from a raffle for two incredible prizes. First, a set of crops made and donated by...... and a singletail made and donated made by Joe Wheeler. The drawing will be held at the end of this month. The prizes are on display and the tickets are on sale at BTE. $1.00 per ticket or $10 for the length of your inseam. (If I'm there I'll be glad to measure for you...this may be your only chance to see me on my knees. Allena) PLAN A SPECIAL NIGHT AT BEYOND THE EDGE Just a reminder that our Fetish Dinners are a chance to treat yourself to a special meal prior to a night of play in our dungeons. And for a 20% surcharge you can start your play early by dining in the dungeon. We are encouraging groups to reserve the dungeon for small parties and special events (like birthdays, or bachelor parties). If you reserve the whole space (at least 8 people) you can even have some input on that night's menu. The great food is a reason alone to come for dinner. Chef Ralph produces fine gourmet meals, such as Venison with a Red Wine Sauce, Marlin with a Mango Salsa, New York steak, Roasted Vegetable Lasagna and his incredible Chicken Pesto Pasta. Erica, Allena and Eric produce rich and delightful desserts each week to delight the most jaded gourmand. The menu changes weekly and always includes a steak, fish, poultry and vegetarian dish. Call the cafe for reservations and information. SOME CHANGES AT BEYOND THE EDGE We are changing our Friday Night Fetish Parties to the second and fourth Fridays of each month. The reason is so we can make room for our newest endeavor, SSMUT (Seattle's Sado-Masochism, Unabashed Talk). SSMUT is a roundtable discussion group hosted by Erik Roeder and Eileen Fix. (See the following article for more information.) Some other changes have occurred at BTE. There is no longer an Edge Forum. Because of this we are looking for someone (or someones) interested in filling this void. Seattle needs an educational forum and we want to provide it. We would like to see the forum held before the play parties each Friday, with the first forum of the month tailored to beginners and the next forum containing more advanced topics. So, with the first, second and fourth Fridays filled, what are we going to do with the third Friday of the month? We are looking at possibly hosting a Spoken Word, Open Mic for poetry and prose with an "edge." This could probably start as early as September. What do you think? SEATTLE'S SADO-MASOCHISM, UNABASHED TALK SSMUT by Eileen Fix and Erik Roeder What is it? A facilitated, roundtable discussion about B/D, S/M and other sexual alternatives. An opportunity for anyone to talk about their experiences or ask questions. To provide an atmosphere where philosophies can take form and be shared. Who is welcome? In the true spirit of pansexuality, all are welcome. Anyone practicing or interested in B/D S/M can add to or benefit from this kind of exchange. People new to the scene are encouraged to attend. Who is facilitating? Erik Roeder (15 years exploring B/D,S/M) Eileen Fix (1998 Washington State Ms Leather) Why do this? After taking part in the predecessor (Table of Ruthless Conversation) we saw the benefits of this kind of forum. We were both expanded by those who candidly shared their feelings, ideas, thoughts, and experiences. We thank the previous hosts for laying the ground work. When and Where? The first Friday of each month, starting at 7:30 P.M. until we're done or 11:00 P.M. whichever comes first. Beyond the Edge Cafe is the home of SSMUT, downstairs. 703 East Pike St. Seattle (206)325-6829 Topics? The possibilities are endless, however, no list should exclude: 24/7 relationships, safe sane and consensual, switching, safer sex, poly relationships, my kink's OK -- yours is really fucked up, the S/M "police", pro-doms, how to..., bisexuality, when a scene goes bad, coming out and more. Whenever appropriate we will spend some time on being "new" to the scene (we were all there once). MEN'S LOCK AND KEY EVENT There will be a men's only "lock and key" event at Beyond the Edge, Sunday the 26th of July from 6:00 PM to Midnight. You may ask what is a lock and key event?. Well, when you come through the door your entry fee gets you either some locks or some keys of your choice. The locks and keys are color coded to let others know where your interest that evening may be. Guys interested in topping select the keys, leaving locks to those who would rather bottom. (If you want to switch you can buy both locks and keys.) The color code is the classic hanky code. If you see a top who has a key of the same color as your lock you may approach him and ask if he would be interested in doing a scene. The same is true for Tops. The plan is to take over BTE upstairs, downstairs and even the basement next door; there should be plenty of room! The tops will be allowed to use the front door while bottoms must inter through a different door. The bottoms will be provided a place to strip. There will be munches provided to snack on. There will be no females. There should be a lot of equipment but if you have something you think may be useful let us know. The fee for tops is $20 which gets you four keys. The fee for bottoms is $10 which gets you two locks. You may purchase additional locks and keys as you find need of them. If you agree to scene expect that it will last a least fifteen minutes. Some of the proceeds will be going to Greta Camameyer's campaign. You have to have an invitation which you can get at the cafe. Pick them up for yourselves and your friends. Your hosts for the night will be Mitch and Kevin and our chef, Ralph. AUGUST ART Featured Artist: Clinton Curtis Artist's Reception, Thursday August 6 X-,sper-e-`ment-el Fetish X-,sper-e-`ment-el Fetish is a grab bag of fetish photography first conceived in 1996, the year Curtis began working with Midwest dominant Amanda Wildefyre. Curtis' collection begins by capturing Ms. Wildefyre, her crew, as well as visitor Mistress Midori and J. G's Leather's famed "Creature" suit, then spanning into Curtis' own adaptation of fetish fantasy. Curtis applies Wildefyre's influences and techniques, blending it with his own concepts of stylization and sometime humor. Currently, Curtis' work from San Diego's Whiplash Ball can be seen in the most recent issue of Skin Two. A SURVEY There has been some talk in the community to have events that are specifically geared towards those in our community who are looking for play partners (aren't we all?). A singles mixer of sorts. What do you think? We would be glad to dedicate one of the Friday Fetish Parties to a singles/looking for partners night. Maybe on a monthly basis on the second Friday of the month. There may be some potential problems, such as: An overabundance of one gender/orientation. A predatory feel to the party. Not enough attendees to make for a good mix, etc. etc. So Let me know what you think. Please put "Friday Social" in the subject line of your e-mail. OUR WEBPAGE is www.powerotic.com/BTE/ E-mail to ladysun@eskimo.com http://www.wolfenet.com/~aubrey/aubrey.htm ============================================================ Date: Sat, 18 Jul 1998 08:19:07 -0700 From: Eros Publishing Subject: Press Release GAZETTE LITE AN OMISSION I forgot to insert the name of the makers and donators of the wonderful crops, Mitchel and Angell of Fetish Works. Sorry about that! Remember, the crops, and the single tail donated by Joe Wheeler, can be viewed at the cafe. Raffle tickets are still available. The drawing will be held at the July 25th Fetish Night. DON'T FORGET Our Friday Night Fetish Nights are moving to the second and fourth Fridays. We are encouraging those of you who are single, or looking for play partners to attend the Fetish Night on the second Friday. We hope that this night becomes a "social/mixer" that seems to be needed in our community. Of course, every Fetish Night, Friday or Saturday, is a chance to meet new people. Every week we have a large amount of newcomers to the cafe. A CONTEST Do you have an idea for a name for our upcoming Spoken Word Night? It needs to imply two things, that this is for spoken word (poetry and prose) and that the poetry and prose will contain an "edge". Win a pass for two to a fetish night if we choose your idea. http://www.wolfenet.com/~aubrey/aubrey.htm
