Letter to The Editor


   Many folks worked hard to make the Seattle Leather Ambassador Contest a
success.  As the one who holds this new title, I'd like to say thanks:
   To Steve and his staff at Neighbours for generosity with their space and
with their time; to Hobbit and Omaha and Scott, the producers; to the Board
of Generic Leather Productions of Washington, who were willing to try new
ideas; to judges Allena, Aubrey, Ava, Ilya, Micha, Scott, Sky, and Ted, for
their patience and good humor; to International Mr. Leather, Joe Gallagher; to
emcees Kristin and Martin; to Shane and his stage crew; to Dana and Dana with
sound and lights; to contestant co-ordinator Erika; to Paula and Tamara and
PJ and the Circus; to my fellow contestants, Mouse, canth?, and Ash, for
their bravery and good-sportsmanship; to my fantasy helpers, Lamar, Kate,
Billy, Sharon, Caitlin, and Jona; and to any whose names I may have omitted,
or may not yet know -- my heartfelt thanks for making a night to remember.
   I'd especially like to thank my family: my son, Jake, who tolerates with
amusement
the endeavors of his aging parent, and Billy, my partner and boy, whose
loyalty and zeal polishes my boots and protects my heart.
   It is with great pride and pleasure that I accept the title, Seattle
Leather Ambassador.  It is a title, born of a fine old lineage, that looks
forward to a brave new future.  It is my fervent hope that I do right by
those who have commended me.  I believe that the diverse clans of our tribe
will learn from and teach each other as we gather to have good times and to
raise funds for our people.
   May we work together with good will, and may we find our way.
