PIKE SEATTLE 325-6829 Beyond the Edge Cafe presents: The art of Isabelle Lafforgue and Bill Bozarth September 1 through September 30 Reception September 8, 6:30 PM This month, we are proud to bring you the works of two amazing artists, Isabelle Lafforgue and Bill Bozarth. Isabelle Lafforgue, a native of Paris, began sculpting in the make believe world of puppetry. She was apprenticed for a year to the wood carver, Dudley Carter and has studied sculpture at several art schools, but is primarily self-taught. As a woman, she feels an affinity with the female body, finding inner depth from its outward form. Although she works and resides in the Pacific Northwest, her sculpture is currently displayed in Holland, the de Prevaux Collection in Paris, New York galleries and in Montreal, where she has recently been proclaimed an artist outstanding among women sculptors. Bill Bozarth received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington on 1991, where he majored in Photography and Ceramics. "These pieces are a study of celebration of the human form. The raku firing process and accompanying fractures lend an interesting texture. The intimate size of the photographs was intentional for the purpose of encouraging the viewer to adopt different distances. This 'pushing' and 'pulling' effect brings everyone into a personal relationship with each piece."
