The program is looking for a new chair to replace Nora Mitchell, who has headed the program for the past several years and is going back to teaching in the classroom. The program has grown a great deal, it is one of the best limited residency programs in the country. It was the original model for limited residency programs 20 years ago, and it splintered off into the Warren Wilson program. SInce then, the idea has proliferated and there are several like it now. A lesbian/gay person of color is particularly encouraged to apply, so please pass the word on. The faculty right now is mostly gay/lesbian, and has been so for a number of years. It would be wonderful to maintain this gay-normative environment. Any candidate is going to need to be gay/lesbian friendly and sensitive, highly commited to non-racist principles, and knowledgeable about self-directed education. A doctorate in literature or philosophy is best, a writer, most definitely, and needs to have published a fair amount. Current faculty are: Marina Budhos, Kenny Fries, Michael Klein, Nora Mitchell (Lead), Nicky Morris, Mariana Romo-Carmona, Sarah Schulman, Paul Selig (Co-Lead), Chase Twitchell, Jane Wohl The salary is 30-34K, and she/he would need to live close to Plainfield, VT, as it is a full time position. The Chair would have a co-lead, and would supervise the MFA faculty (all teacher/writers), teach a few masters level students as well as some undergraduates. Running this program would be an opportunity to impact the national literary discourse in this country. Interested applicants should send the following materials immediately to: Dean of Administration Goddard College 123 Pitkin Road Plainfield, VT 05667 - letter of application, including brief statements of their teaching and leadership philosophies, - a c.v. - a writing sample - a dossier - names, addresses and phone numbers of three references ********** To post, send mail to aplb@queernet.org.
