[Yet, hypocritically, this bill was presented as one which returns control to local boards!!!!] Under the new measure, school boards have the power to limit or forbid any club, but MUST ban those centered around bigotry, criminal activity or human sexuality. Boards also can require parental permission for club involvement, and teachers cannot encourage criminal behavior. Overwhelmingly, the ousted clubs involve minority, political, religious and service organizations and athletic clubs not linked to the Utah High School Activities Association. * LIST OF CLUBS NOT APPROVED Highland High - Advancement of Hispanic Students, Bowling Club, Ethnic Alliance, Agro Skating, Organized for Planet Earth, Hockey, Juveniles in Highland Against Drugs, KEY, Lacrosse, Meat, Nordburg, Polynesian, Procrastinators, Reggae Ambassadors, Rugby, Sabotage, Salt Lake Lawn Chair Rewebbing Association, Simpson's, Ski & Board Shafters, Star Wars, Students Against Drunk Driving, Utah Frisbee, Water Polo.
