The Utah Legislature passed on March 2 H.B. 366 "Recognition of Marriages," a
Utah bill to ban recognition of same-sex marriages regardless of where the
marriages are performed, such as Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden
and, maybe soon, Hawaii. Gay and Lesbian Utah Democrats started its "Olympics
Out of Utah" project in response to the bill's passage.

Here are some Internet addresses and facsimile and telephone numbers for key
individuals in the fight to keep the 2002 Winter Olympics from coming to
Utah. Our effort needs your help in calling and writing letters to the
editors of the local news media and expressing your outrage to these groups
and individuals. Tell them that passage of this bill jeopardizes the spirit
of international cooperation for the games and underscores the offensive
irony of the Utah slogan, "The World Is Welcome Here." Tell them that Utah is
unprepared to protect the equal rights of legally married same-sex couples
including those who may choose to attend the Games.
