CCMC: Back in season Season V is just about to premiere. The Capital City Men's Chorus is celebrating "Five Years, Five Centuries, Five Decades." This season we're beginning a two-concert format for each concert. Last night was our special night with The Flirtations. In a special arrangement with the Vortex Repertory Co., we sponsored an evening with the Flirts and CCMC's Ovation (our specialty ensemble). It was a sell-out! That was our virgin sold-out performance. FIVE YEARS: September 25 (8 PM) and September 26 (4 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^ This is CCMC's "greatest hits." We welcome back our founding director, David Weigle, and we also pay tribute to all our 11 members who have passed away since we started. Program selections will include selections from Strauss's Der Fledermaus, Orff's Carmina Burana, Bernstein's Mass, as well as numbers from Broadway classics such as Carousel, Les Miserables, Company, La Cage Aux Folles, etc. FIVE CENTURIES: December 18 (8 PM) and December 19 (4 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The holiday concert will cover songs from five centuries as well as songs from around the world. Spanish and Brazilian carols, German and Hebrew songs and the well known Yoruban "Betelehemu" will be featured along with Britten's Ceremony of Carols. Traditional sing-alongs and a multi-language "Silent Night" version will welcome the diverse community of Austin to the holiday season. FIVE DECADES: May 14 (8PM) and May 15 (4 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Upbeat sounds from the 40's to the present. We will entertain the young and the old. The outrageous choralography of "Beehive Hairdos & Motorcycle Boots" will leave no one out -- and that even includes our Governor Ann Richards!
