Date: Mon, 27 Jun 1994 18:45:14 EDT Project 21 News 6-27-94 ACTION ALERT The Austin (Texas) Human Rights Commission (AHRC) conducted two hearings recently to receive testimony concerning Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual youth. A goal of the hearings is to make recommendations for the City of Austin and the Board of Education concerning support programs for LGB kids in public schools. The AHRC is accepting written testimony from ANYONE until June 30. Testimony doesn't have to come from Austin residents. If you have a story to tell, mail it to AHRC, P.O. Box 1088, Austin TX 78767-8834. Please keep your writing relevant to youth issues and please include specific suggestions on what the City and schools could do to support LGB young people. Additionally, there is a terrific group in Austin that could use your support. OutYouth Austin maintains a national youth hotline (1-800-96-YOUTH) that receives a lot of calls and therefore always needs financial support to keep going. Send donations to OutYouth Austin, 2330 Guadalupe, Austin TX 78705.
