REPUBLICAN PARTY OF TEXAS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Saturday, December 4, 1993 CONTACT: Fred Meyer, 214/754-1800 Karen Hughes, 512/477-9821 REPUBLICAN LEADERS COMMEND WILLIANSON COUNTY COMISSIONERS FOR COURAGEOUS STAND FOR VALUES Austin -- Members of the State Republican Executive Committee today voted to commend Williamson County commissioners for their courageous stand for the values important to residents of their community. Republican National Committeeman Ernest Angelo of Midland read a statement commending the WIlliamson County commissioners, and committeemen Tim Lambert of Lubbock and Al Clements of Houston made a motion that the entire committee commend the Williamson county commisioners and publicly release Angelo's statement. The motion passed with a unanimous voice vote. "I commend the commisioners who had the courage to say their taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize behavior that many of them believe to be both immoral and illegal," said Angelo. "The fact that major companies and the City of Austin, among others, encourage such behavior with stockholder and taxpayer funds only emphasizes how far as a nation we have strayed from the values of our forefathers," Angelo said. "The people of Williamson County may feel like a last line of defense, but who knows, maybe instead they are the first part of an offensive [his words, not mine] effort to restore basic values to Texas and America," said Angelo. --30--
