(FORT WORTH) -- A Tarrant County family law judge has allowed a lesbian to adopt her live-in companion's biological child in what could be the first such adoption in the southwest. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the two women - one a daycare employee and the other an aerospace worker - have lived together for 10 years. Their names were not disclosed because adoption records are sealed. The adoption process allows the child to legally inherit from both partners and receive health insurance and Social Security benefits through either parent.
