Issues of legality were addressed by residents of the community as well as moral issues. Since this board was elected on a platform to keep taxes and expenses at an all time low, they were asked what this was costing the community in legal fees etc. An answer was not given by the board nor do we expect to get one in near future. The second reading of the Policy was scheduled for the meeting, but board member Andy Saylor announced the policy was still being reviewed by the solicitor and they need more time to review the policy and its legalities. A recommendation was made to send the policy to the boards' executive committee until the review is complete. So, at this time all things are on hold for the "Instructional Policy Regarding Sexual Orientation" in Elizabethtown. This leaves the subject open for different areas of thought. Is the board really considering changing the policy or possibly dropping the issue or are they just putting the subject on the back burner hoping we will go away allowing them to sneak the policy passed us later. I prefer to believe the latter. We are not going away. We must continue to keep pressure on these people. I would be very interested in your thoughts on this matter. Please email me with any thoughts you may have. Happy Holidays!!!
