Are you a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered high school student, or recent graduate? If you are AND if you live in Pennsylvania, we need your help. The Philadelphia Lesbian and Gay Task Force is assembling the stories of queer high school students - and recent graduates - as part of our efforts todocument anti-lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered discrimination and violence. At a time when schools discipline students for comments hostile to different races or religions, and the "n" word is universally condemned, gay bashing continues on school campuses where "that's gay" is teen-age jargon for anything dumb. And it doesn't stop with words: In Massachusetts, two young men allegedly used a pocket knife to cut HOMO into the back of a 17-year-old student. Queer high school students have been ridiculed, harassed and attacked in California, Colorado, and Utah. And it happens in Pennsylvania! Please help us make our schools safe for everyone! If you are willing to share your experiences with us, please e-mail Marina Levina at mlevina@pobox.asc.upenn.edu, or write Marina Levina at 3620 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19104. At your request a survey can be either e-mailed to you or sent via regular mail. All responses will be confidential, and your name will not be used without your permission.
