The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 12 congregations and
organizations and 53 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

We agree with Janen Sosnovik [letter, March 9] that
the government should not be attempting to force
belief systems on religious organizations; and in
fact, it isn't. The Boy Scouts are far too entangled
with all levels of government--by choice--to be
complaining about government oversight. Many
religious institutions change their beliefs over
time; just as most changed policies about slavery and
women's ordination, they are now starting to change
in regard to sexual orientation. These changes
occurred because some of their members saw a better
way and made the effort to lead the change.

Sincerely,
