Washington, DC -- Basic Rights Oregon, the nation's largest statewide LGBT

announced its official endorsement of the Millennium March on Washington for
Equality.

Jean Harris, Executive Director of the organization has also joined the
March's Leadership Council. The Leadership Council brings grassroots
activists together for local and regional organizing.

"The citizens of Oregon, and the 125,000 volunteers and supporters of Basic
Rights Oregon, are excited about the March on Washington for Equality," said
Harris. "We know that hundreds of thousands of LGBT folk will return from the
national March to become active in local and state organizations. We are
strong believers in both local and national organizing," she added.

In making the announcement, MMOW board member David Medina commented, "Jean
Harris and the members of Basic Rights Oregon are outstanding examples of
state leadership in our community. Together they have set the pace in
defending our rights and advancing the cause of equality in our nation."

reminder of the benefits of both local and national activism," he added.

"Jean Harris is one on the nation's leading LGBT political organizers and one
of the most respected activists in the country," said Robin Tyler, Executive

the civil rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons. Jean
Harris epitomizes grassroots activism and we are honored to welcome this
superb grassroots organizer to the MMOW Leadership Council."
