OFFICE MEMO Oregon G&L Community Center Date:3/10/93
Two months ago a project to create a home for the gay
and lesbian community of Oregon was conceived. We did
not begin the process with preconceptions about the
nature, location, size or functions of the facility.
We did, however, sense a need in the community
for a point of focus and an environment to nurture
communication in our community through its numerous
 and valuable organizations.
We started by surveying over seventy organizations
in the Portland metropolitan area. So far, thirty have
responded with an interest in participating in this project,
representing a total membership of over 3,000 people.
The groups who responded made up a very encouraging
cross-section of the gay and lesbian community. We feel
that there is enough interest to justify proceeding with
creating the task force and developing a project plan.
Feel free to contact us if you would like to offer help or
if you have any questions regarding this project. Our
phone number is 503/295-9732, where you can leave
messages or get confirmation for meeting times and
locations. Our regular meetings will begin March 17th
at 6:00 PM at the UO Portland Center, 722 SW 2nd Ave.,
Portland.
The use of this room is graciously sponsored by the
University of Oregon Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Alliance.
