As I was listening to NPR on my way to work this morning, I heard it reported that all seven anti-gay-rights ammendments pending in Oregon cities passed, and mostly by wide margins. I turned the radio off in disgust. Then as I was reading americast news online I came across this: QUAKE STRIKES OREGON: Oregon Gov. Barbara Roberts declared a state of emergency Tuesday in one county after a series of earthquakes killed two people and badly damaged buildings Monday. The strongest quake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale. Klamath Falls was hit the worst. Geologists warned that aftershocks could collapse buildings. One motorist died when his car was crushed by a 40-ton boulder. Now, I'm not one to gloat over natural disasters striking other, but it just seemed "funny" to me, reading this so soon after hearing that NPR report. Then I recalled how people said AIDS was "God's Judgement", like in Sodom and Gomorrah (sp?). Well, I recall reading that the real "sin" of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality. So, then I think of the earthquakes in Oregon and think...... Nah! That couldn't possibly be it..... -- Terrance Heath heath@phoenix.cs.uga.edu *************************************************************************** "To love without roles, without power plays, that is revolution." ************************** Rita Mae Brown *********************************
