Loyal readers, I am on a roll.  Here is the latest news from the
Old Nort State.  I hope I can keep this up in the new year.  Ah, yes.
The News:

     -  The Tarheel State led the nation in anti-gay activity according
        to a report prepared by People for the American way.  No real
        susprise.  With a cheer leader like Jesse, how can the team go
        wrong?

     -  When "Tales of the City" comes to TV, remember that Armistead
        Maupin grew up in the City of Oaks, Jesse's home of residence.
        He in fact worked for or with Jesse in this fair city at WRAL,
        I think it might have been.  Any gentle reader know where?

     -  Metrona AIDS Project volunteer treasurer -- I should say
        former treasurer -- Stephen O'Shields has been arrested for
        embezzeling $118,000.  MAP is now broke.  Get this, folks.
        The United Way granted MAP $11,700 to meet the next payroll.
        The United Way had stopped funding MAP until they were
        satisfied with accounting procedures.  Regular funding in
        the future is uncertain.

     -  Eddie Hatcher was denied parole again.  In prison for taking
        hostages at gun point, he has been an outspoken critic of the
        NC Dept. of Corrections and its treatment of inmates with
        HIV/AIDS.  ACT UP/San Francisco is outraged and is boycotting
        NC tourism and furniture.  Wait!  What about tobacco?  The
        tobacco industry is a major contributor of money to Jesse.
        I guess we can't take the fags from the fags!

     -  Police in Ashevill have completed an operation targeting
        cruising at the Westgate shopping center.

     -  The Queen City's "televangelical homophobe," the "Rev."
        Joe Chambers, has taken on Barney the Dinosaur because
        "Barney is teaching kids that we must accept everyone
        as they are - whether they're homosexual or lesbian."

     -  The Pride 1994 gay and lesbian toy drive collected over 350
        gifts.  It was to have worked in conjunction with Toys for 
        To of the USMC Reserve.  The local Master Sergent in
        in the Queen City was cooperative but his superiors were not.
