If the amount of news allows, there may be multiple newsletters per day. Newsletters are usually distributed evenings on weekdays and anytime on weekends and Holidays. 7--All organizations are encouraged to send information to this email address so that it may be passed on to the community in the newsletter. Information should be formatted for press release, and in text format, whenever possible. Information should be concise. Information may be edited for content. 8--This newsletter will accept web links to organizational and news items only. Personal web page links will not be posted in the newsletter. 9--Business or Personal Services Advertisements ARE NOT ACCEPTED in the regular newsletter unless the business/service is part of an event sponsored by OR a fundraiser for a community organization (for example, bars sponsoring organizational fundraisers). The community organization MUST be listed in the announcement. However, Business and Personal service listings are allowed in the Rainbow Directory database on CRN's eGroups page. 10--Although CRN may allow voluntary monetary donations in the future to help defray costs, subscriptions to CRN will remain free. The Editor still believes that some of the best things in life should still be free. 11--This newsletter does not support paid advertisements. 12--News items will list the news source, when available. 13--Please allow at least 5 days notice, whenever possible, on event and news announcements. I am only one person and may not check e-mail on a daily basis. 14--All mailings will be done to the entire list. The list will not be broken down to target specific groups. 15--Like any publication, CRN welcomes feedback. To have feedback posted in the newsletter, your full name must be included. CRN reserves the right to determine if feedback is appropriate to post in the newsletter and reserves the right to edit for content and language. 16--Subscribers are encouraged to forward newsletters to others. 17--Subscriptions are free and can be obtained by sending an email to this address -- crn-subscribe@egroups.com. To unsubscribe, send an email to crn-unsubscribe@egroups.com. 18--Subscriptions will be automatically cancelled if the email is undeliverable for a period of two weeks. 19--All announcements will be sent as Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) to prevent scrolling and allow for privacy. 20--CRN features a community poll on an irregular basis to get ideas and opinions of the subscriber base. Feedback to the community poll will be posted in a special Feedback issue. Names are optional. CRN Reserves the right to edit feedback content and language. Ideas for the community poll should be submitted to CRN for review. Simple polls will be posted on the eGroups service. 21--Some features of eGroups will require registration. To register, go to http://www.egroups.com/register and enter your email address. eGroups will send you and email message containing a validation number. Copy the validation number. Go back to the "Completing Registration" page in your browser and paste the number, or click on the URL in the email. You must supply a password to register. 22--To prevent spamming, eGroups replaces the last character of an email address with a dash. CRN recommends using the web links whenever possible. If you cannot determine the correct email address from an article, please contact CRN. 23--Replies to messages through eGroups are sent to CRN for approval. CRN will copy and paste all information into a new message, if necessary, to protect the subscriber's email address. The original sender of the message may then receive a rejection email message which simply states that their message was not posted to the entire list. Watch for updates and additions to these policies. As CRN learns more about eGroups features, the policies will change as well. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask! Thanks to everyone for your support. ____________________________________________________________ The Charlotte Rainbow Newsletter, established April 1997, is a free e-mail newsletter providing local, regional, and national news and events of interest to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community of the Carolinas and beyond.
