The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 12 congregations and
organizations and 53 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

Frank Bruni's March 8 analysis of the New Jersey Boy
Scouts case contained a peculiar quote from George
Davidson, the lawyer for the Boy Scouts: "The Boy
Scouts is maintaining, in common with the churches,
that homosexual conduct is not morally straight."
They may be maintaining that in common with most
churches, but there is a rapidly growing minority of
churches that refuse to make such a blanket
statement. And there are many churches who would
agree about conduct, but which seem to do a better
job than the Scouts of distinguishing between
orientation and behavior.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
