New Hampshire House Bill 1432, which will add 'sexual orientation' to the state's civil rights bill was passed by the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday by a vote of 14 to 4 (with three not voting). The only change to the bill was a 'no promo homo' amendment, which will be attached to the entire civil rights bill, and basically says that the state of New Hampshire in protecting Civil rights for all these different groups does not condone their beliefs, actions, etc. This amendment is very mild, and is viewed as a victory by members of the NH Coalition to End Discrimination. The bill will go to a vote before the full house sometime next week. IF YOU LIVE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, contact your represetative(s), and let them know you want this bill to pass. If you are not sure who your representatives are, either contact your town offices, the state capitol at 271-1110, or e-mail me at bdenehy@keene.edu. The larger the margain that the bill passes in the house, the more of a chance the governor will sign it. Brendan Equal rights, not Special rights
