The New Hampshire Legislature is currently considering House Bill 1432, which would amend the New Hampshire Civil Rights Bill to add sexual orientation. It will receive a hearing by the Judiciary committee on January 27 at 10am in the state capital in Concord. The New Hampshire Coalition to End Descrimination is working to help pass this bill. Members of the committee are organizing lobbying efforts to convince members of the legislature that this bill is needed. This will not be an easy battle since New Hampshire is a heavily Republican state. I urge any New Hampshire subscribers of gaynet to write and call their representatives and remind them that: Descrimination is wrong; that it exists in New Hampshire; and that what we are asking for is not special rights, but equal rights. Anyone who would like more information about this can contact me at bdenehy@keene.edu or by contacting NHCED at PO Box 74, Concord NH 03302-0074. They are especially interested in getting testimony from anyone who has suffered descrimination in NH.
