An article in the Burlington Free Press reads in part

"Legislation Against Gay Marriage Dies

An attempt to bar same-sex marriages in New Hampshire has died in the House
as unnecessary and potentially creating chaos in inheritance and other
laws.
The House voted 261-85 last week to kill legislation that defined a
marriage as the union between one man and one woman.
The bill also defined marriage as "meant to serve the interests of children
by providing a positive environment for the propagation and rearing of
children."
