The first ever gay rights rally in the state of Mississippi will be held September 18, 1993, to protest the harrassment of the fledgling gay/lesbian community group G.L. Friendly. The rally will be in Ocean Springs, on the Miss. Gulf Coast. Organizers expect 1500-2000 protestors from all over the U.S. to come show their support. Anyone interested in coming can call 601/875-3335. G.L. Friendly will try to provide accommodations to as many people as possible. A parade will begin formation at 3pm on Dewey St in Ocean Springs (nr. City Hall) and will kick off at 4pm. Formed two months ago, G.L. Friendly is trying to provide a safe environment for gays and lesbians in south Mississippi by opening a community center, forming support groups, and establishing a lending library. The group has faced threats and harrassments from local citizens and church groups. Please show your support in any way you can!! Fighting for gay rights in Mississippi is truly a revolutionary act!
