I was at the land today. Brenda & Wanda say that some women are starting to come and stay for short periods of time, and are helping do a lot of important work. They still have a lot of needs to make the land secure. Monetary donations are still needed--they have received under $2,000 following the recent incidents. They need $5,000 for security equipment. And while they have secured an attorney who is donating his work, they'll need money for court costs and filing fees as they pursue legal avenues to block their opponents from kicking them out of town. They also need people with specific skills such as electrical & carpetry skills. The second open meeting organized by Sister Spirit opponents is scheduled for tomorrow night. At the last meeting, opponents vowed to research state & county laws that could be used to oust the Hensons. They've researched the Hensons' deed and approached the Jones County Board of Supervisors to alter zoning laws. However, it is doubtful that they will find any legal means of ousting the Hensons. Tomorrow's meeting will be a time for them to outline their next steps.
