NAME: Gay and Lesbian Elders Active in Minnesota (G.L.E.A.M)

DESCRIPTION:
MISSION STATEMENT
        Founded in 1989, G.L.E.A.M. (Gay and Lesbian Elders Active in
        Minnesota) was established to provide a friendly and safe
        environment in which older Gays and Lesbians, together, could meet
        and socialize. By providing on-going opportunities through joint
        programs, it is our goal to enhance the quality of life for many
        of our communities' isolated elders.

WHY G.L.E.A.M.?
        Being an older Gay or Lesbian in '90's America means something
        different to each one of us. At G.L.E.A.M., we want it to mean
        being active in a friendly, open social environment. A place where
        the promise of new friendships can bloom and old acquaintances can
        be renewed. A place of dignity where the warmth of our community
        comes to spend a Sunday afternoon.

        In February, 1989, G.L.E.A.M. founders set out to make their
vision
        of such a place a reality. They recognized that Gays and Lesbians
        over forty have their own concerns. G.L.E.A.M. seeks to be an
important
        element in the expression of those concerns.

PUT G.L.E.A.M. IN YOUR LIFE
        We invite you to come and enjoy the friendly, lively gatherings of
        G.L.E.A.M. In addition to our regular Sunday socials, we also host
        special events that include:
                * Holiday festivities
                * Potlucks
                * Picnics
                * Dances

        The Park Avenue Senior Citizens Center is where we hold our Sunday
        socials, and it provides us with what we need to make great things
        happen.

                * Table tennis
                * Billiards
                * TV/VCR-Stereo
                * Dance floor
                * Board games
                * Kitchen

        The Center is reserved exclusively for us the second Sunday of
every
        month. Our parties are private. Bring a friend.

        (Meeting notices appear in the monthly newsletter and in the gay
media.)

        There is no charge to attend the Sunday socials, however we do
        appreciate donations. Ticket prices for social events are
announced
        along with the event.

        Parking is available in the hi-rise lot in unnumbered spaces only.
        Street parking in the area is metered on Sundays.

        Bus service is provided on routes 5 and 22. Call the MTC for bus
        schedules at 827-7733. The number for Metro Mobility is 349-7480.
