Meyer" (From Nov. 1991) As far as night life goes, it is rather limited and each bar/dance facility is different and has different atmosphere. My favorite is the Allegro between Chase and Biddle streets. It is about the best. It has dancing as well as bar. Probably the best thing is the music. They play a good selection of popular dance tunes and that is the only reason to go--to dance. The Hippo is probably the most well-known gay bar/dance facility in B-town. The crowd is a little younger (unlike the Allegro where it usually is 29 and up). The Hippo seems to be younger dudes. It depends what you're interested in. If you are not interested in a "normal" bar scene then the new Central Station is for you. It has three different levels of entertainment. A bar scene upstairs, a restaurant, and a "lounge" type are where they have a pianist. It is a little more upscale than a typical "bar scene." The Gallery is also nice, but the crowd is not as clean cut as others mentioned. There are also bars like Atlantis where they have all male (nude?) dancers. Of course there are leather bars, etc. and of course the ultimate seedy bar in the universe LEON's. The place is a pig sty and its customers are not much better. The only thing good to say about Leon's and the Drinkery is that they have a CD jukebox (but that is not such a big deal now-a-days.)
