Subject: Case Histories on "Religious Beliefs Argument" Against Gay Civil

The Letter - Kentucky's gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgender newspaper, has
done an extensive review of US Supreme Court cases which could be cited to
support the constitutionality of civil rights laws designed to extend
protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Two lawsuits were filed this fall by Dr. J. Barrett Hyman of Louisville in an
attempt to overturn Louisville and Jefferson County's Fairness ordinances on
the grounds that they violate the freedoms of religion and association as
guaranteed by the First Amendment to the US Constitution, and other freedoms.

The same argument is being put forth in other lawsuits around the country.
These lawsuits are being supported by Pat Robertson's law firm, the American
Center for Law and Justice.
