Subject: Trying to Find Two Kentucky Lesbian Pioneers

I'm trying to locate the address, phone number, fax number, or email address
for two women who are now considered founders of the gay and lesbian movement
here in Louisville. In July 1970, Tracy Knight and Marjorie Jones became
only the second or third same-sex couple in the US to attempt to obtain a
marriage license. When they were turned down by the Jefferson County Clerk
here in Louisville, they sued but lost.

Dr. James Sears, pre-eminent historian or the gay South, is now trying to
locate one or both of these women to interview them for a forthcoming book.
There has been much written about them, but their actual papers cannot be
located and, of course, an interview with one or both of them would be ideal.

If you have any information whatsoever about the location of Tracy Knight or
Marjorie Jones, please forward it to me in the strictest confidence. Ms.
Knight would now be in her early 50s, and Ms. Jones would be in her late 60s.
We understand that one of them may still be in the Louisville metropolitan
area, but so far our search has been fruitless.

Thank you for any information you can send our way.
