Hopefully, you received our announcement about the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual Student College Conference. The Gay/Lesbian Alliance for Resource and Education (GLARE) will again be sponsoring this conference at Emporia State University. The Conference will be held in the Kanza and Flinthills rooms upstairs in the Memorial Union of the campus. THE CONFERENCE DATES ARE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH FROM 6:00 PM - 12:00 PM AND NOVEMBER 20TH FROM 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The conference theme is "Spanning The Spectrum" and will focus on ways to strengthen your Gay/Lesbian Organization and how to strengthen yourself as a Bisexual/Gay/Lesbian/Ally. Friday Evening will mark the beginning of the conference with a ROAD RALLY at 6:00 PM (a ROAD RALLY is an exciting race against the clock to win PRIZES!) The ROAD RALLY is being used as a fund-raiser for GLARE, so $5 a car will be charged. Then at 9:00 we'll host a dance, so bring your music and your dancin' shoes. GLARE feels it's very important for everyone to attend Friday's events to develop a sense of familiarity and friendship with the other attenders - besides it's fun!! Saturday's events will begin at 9:00 and feature a variety of great speakers and exciting topics. The following list should tempt your tastebuds. The speakers and topics featured are: PARTNERSHIP AND FAMILY ISSUES IN THE LAW - DAVID BROWN, LAWYER THE RHETORIC OF HATE/PROPAGANDA AND THE MEDIA - TOM POE, PROFESSOR COMING OUT FIGHTING - DUSTY GARNER, ACTIVIST THE DYNAMICS OF OPPRESSION & STRATEGIES TO ELIMINATE IT - LISA REBOY & MICHAEL MURPHY, PROFESSORS STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS AS A CAMPUS ORGANIZATION - LIZ TALBERT, KU There will be no registration fee for the conference; however, donations will be taken at the door. Also, there will be a resource are for gay and gay-friendly organizations and businesses to display information and sell merchandise to the many gay groups that will attend.
