Amnesty International Members for Lesbian and Gay Concerns has
targeted Kansas along with Arkansas, Missouri, Montana and
Tennessee, as a long-tern project to abolish the discriminatory
sodomy laws.

This case is special because it breaks with AI long standing rule
not allowing the case country to be involved in the work of the
campaign organized to address the need.  In this case the sodomy
law in Kansas.  Kansas AI members and supporters, I would hope
that includes Equality Kansas, can be involved in working locally
on a local issue.  Because of AI long standing policy of
political neutrality, this is a major change in protocol.

AI NEEDS KANSAS FOLKS TO GET INVOLVED!

Individuals, groups - queer and non, and local AI groups are
needed to work intensively in repealing these laws.  It is
important that we - AI members - begin by working within the
State building networks and support systems to fight these laws.

In Italy I am centering my work on the cases coming out of
Central and South America, but will be overjoyed to begin working
on cases for my home state. We need people locally interested
before we can begin.  I hope some of you
