PHELPS VOWED PROTEST AT DISNEY'S GAY DAY

TOPEKA KS-Fred Phelps, the renegade Baptist minister who makes headlines
by leading anti-Gay picketers at funerals of people who have died of
AIDS-related complications, said he would conduct a protest at Gay Day at
Disney World in Orlando, Florida on June 3. Last year's Gay Day drew some
20,000 Lesbians and Gays to the popular theme park and a group of some two
dozen protesters from the American Family Association and Operation
Rescue. Phelps, a disbarred attorney and the pastor of the Westboro
Baptist Church in Topeka whose small congregation is primarily composed of
his family members, has staged crude anti-Gay pickets at the funerals of
such notables as Randy Shilts, Virginia Kelley (President Clinton's
mother) and Pedro Zamora.
