Last year's Gay Day drew some 20,000 Lesbians and Gays to the popular theme park and a group of some two dozen protesters from the American Family Association and Operation Rescue. Phelps, a disbarred attorney and the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka whose small congregation is primarily composed of his family members, has staged crude anti-Gay pickets at the funerals of such notables as Randy Shilts, Virginia Kelley (President Clinton's mother) and Pedro Zamora.
