The Associated Press recently reported that Angelou will not, as expected, reschedule her appearance for this spring. According to press reports, Angelou's agency, Dave Le Camera Lordly and Dame Inc. of Boston, cite scheduling conflicts in turning down the invitation from school officials. Angelou postponed a November 14 speech before a sold-out audience after an appearance in Topeka on November 13. Phelps and some of his followers surrounded Angelou's limousine in Topeka and taunted he with anti-Gay and Lesbian comments. Most recently Phelps demonstrate outside Angelou's lecture at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The St. Louis chapter of the Lesbian Avengers set up a counter-demonstration. ========================================================== Permission granted by the News-Telegraph for distribution to the KQN email list (KQN@casti.com), and archiving in the Queer Resources Directory (QRD) on the Internet (http://www.qrd.org/QRD).
